What Is A Private Caterer?

Most people hire a private caterer for providing gourmet food with professional service to different events. They are known as a private chef as well.  A catering service will personalize the event and cater to your clients. They can provide different services and specialty foods. The company will hire different chefs to cook certain foods and provide a kitchen.  Clients are able to have an exciting event with great food with the right private catering service.

A private caterer will have to perform multiple jobs at a party. The salary will vary in this industry. You can make from $32,000 to $200,000 a year.  Caterers can receive training from schools like Stratford Career Institute and American Intercontinental University. The food industry has a lot of great careers and training looks good on a portfolio.

A private caterer wants to make a good impression so that customer will give positive reviews of your service.  You will have to make adjustment with your service depending on the event.  For example, if you are catering an outdoor event, then you will need appliances to cook and keep the food warm. The Jetboil is great for outdoor cooking and a safe appliance.

It is important for a caterer to understand what a client wants for a party. You want to be aware of any food allergies, client’s favorite foods and what foods the client doesn’t like.  This information will need to be kept in a folder, computer or smart phone. Chefs will do a lot of cooking for a client and don’t just cater events. They have to prepare three course meals throughout the day which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Some people hire caterers to provide meals with fresh ingredients. Caterers should have some knowledge about nutrition.

Preparing food for a dinner party is another service provided by private catering companies. The client will provide a menu for a buffet style or three course dinner.  You can also hire assistants to help with setting up, cooking and serving the event. A private caterer should be knowledgeable about food and planning events.
